A collection of the up and coming superfoods that will take the health world by storm in the new year! All the latest products and ingredients you need to be eating, cooking with, and including in your daily diet for optimal health and happiness.
With the new year upon us, everyone is starting to predict what foods, trends, products, and fitness fads will be HOT in the world of health and wellness. What new diet craze will sweep the nation? What new exercise class will be at every gym? What new celebrity will start be idolized in fitspo?
It’s all sort of frivolous as no one truly knows what will be popular in the future. Sure, there are trends and patterns that can give us hints, but aside from time travel…there’s just no real way of knowing. I myself usually don’t pay attention to these lists and just try to do my own thing when it comes my personal health and wellness. Just because something is popular in the main stream, doesn’t necessarily mean it’s right for you and your body.
I thought it would be fun to ignore all the hyped up predictions and conjectures and instead curate my only little list of foods that I think ought to have some attention in the new year! Foods that I’ve started eating recently myself in the past year and have loved the results of incorporating them into my diet. From nuts and seeds to baking ingredients and seafood products, this list has a mix of everything and may just give you some great ideas on what you can add to your own diet in the new year to increase variety and nutrient density.
So with that, I give you 10 Superfoods to Eat in 2017….
Heirloom Forbidden Black Rice
A great source of complex carbohydrates and fiber, vitamin E, and antioxidants like anthocyanins which give it it’s rich color!
Brazil Nuts
Brazil nuts are in healthy fats, provide over 750% of your daily required Selenium intake, and are a great source of magnesium. Not to mention they’re delicious and fun to eat!
Bone Broth
Thoroughly cooking bones pulls out a wide range of minerals, amino acids, gelatin, collagen, chondroitin, and hyaluronic acid that can then be absorbed by the body. Great for joint health, reducing intestinal inflammation, and boosting immunity!
Bee Pollen
Bee pollen is 40% protein! It improves endurance and vitality, supports a strengthened immune system, and makes one more resistant to allergens.
Sardines
High in healthy omega-3 fatty acids and so satisfying! Salty, fatty, and delicious. Perfect for getting seafood protein in your diet and amazingly high in iron and calcium!
Lentil Pasta
Delicious, unique, and full of plant-based protein and fiber! A little chewier than regular pasta but just as yummy and satisfying.
Apple Cider Vinegar
Many health benefits due to high concentrations of phytochemicals! Aids digestion, reduces rick for chronic disease, controls blood sugar, and speeds metabolism! Try it in my special drink.
Collagen
Easily absorbed amino acids, joint support, and healthy skin! Easily mixes into liquids and is virtually flavorless!
Maca Powder
Great for mixing into oatmeal and smoothies. Has a nutty, slight malt-like taste too it and is super high in fiber! Balances hormones, increases energy, and lowers blood pressure.
Dried Blueberries
Sweet and chewy! Perfect for topping your smoothie bowls or yogurt parfaits. High in antioxidants, rich in vitamin K, and full of vitamin C!

I’ve been incorporating a lot of these over the past few months!
Maca, collagen, ACV, and Brazil nuts!
Love all of those!
Some of these didn’t surprise me, but some did, like Bee Pollen. 🙂 I don’t eat any of them regularly, but I love bone broth. 🙂 It’s such a gift to be able to use God’s glorious gift of food to nourish our bodies.
The bee pollen is so unusual!! I love the sweet floral taste of it!
I think you must have quite the crystal ball over there, I can absolutely see all of these being popular in the superfood world coming up! And already a few favorites on the list–bluebs, black rice, maca 🙂 It will be fun to see!
Yes! I am excited to see if my predictions come true! LOL
I want to try the bee pollen! That sounds really interesting! I recently hopped on the collagen band wagon and bought Vital Proteins individual packs! I’ve only used it two days in a row so far, so I haven’t noticed a difference yet, but I’m excited to see if I eventually do!
I have definitely noticed a difference in my recovery with regular use of the collagen! Let me know how it goes for you!
I feel all trendy because I’ve tried all those foods and eat quite a few of them regularly .
I recently tried tried dried jujube chips and these vegan sausages made from rice , so perhaps they could become trendy .
Oh!! And my new favourite sweet potatoes ! Hawaiian white skinned white fleshed – they’re just so dense , creamy, starchy , delicious ….better than purple or Japanese sweets can you believe
OMG better than japanese sweets?! I didn’t know that was possible!!! I MUST find them somewhere!!
Hi Kaila I love blueberries and regularly have that.Others look interesting. Will be checking out the website
