Review Marathon

Bare with me every one….I have 4m product reviews comin’ at ya today.

I finally have sampled all of the protein powders Jay Robb sent me, so here are my thoughts on all of them in order of which I liked best. Before I begin, let me just say that there were no flavors that I didn’t like, some of them I just enjoyed more than the others. All the powders, the egg white and whey alike, were really smooth and creamy when mixed in smoothies and milk and they all mixed really well without being chalky or gritty. :)

Whey Protein Powders:

Pina Colada

This powder was my favorite out of the whey protein flavors. I loved the subtle coconut taste mixed with sweet pineapple. I mixed this one in to a smoothie with banana and ice and created a deliciously creamy, tropical treat.

Tropical Dreamsicle

This one tasted just like its name. SO similar to a orange creamsicle…..just like desert. I really liked the orange flavor in this because it tasted like real oranges and not an imitation, fake orange flavor. Mixed in with milk this created a really creamy and thick drink that tasted amazing.

Strawberry

This one was really sweet on its own but I threw it in a green monster smoothie and it turned out to be a great compliment to the spinach and kale that was in it. It definitely cut the bitterness and made the smoothie really thick and creamy without the addition of a banana.

Vanilla

The best tasting vanilla protein I have had. It tasted like real vanilla beans, not like imitation vanilla. Very good.

Chocolate

I am not a big fan of chocolate drinks but this powder made for a great smoothie/milkshake. I combined it with peanut butter and banana. Such a great combo and I like that the chocolate flavor was more like dark chocolate than milk chocolate<I am not a milk chocolate fan at all.

For the egg white protein powders I like the strawberry the best, followed by the vanilla, and then the chocolate.

Overall, all the powders were really great tasting and lived up to their reputation as being “the best tasting protein powder on earth”. They also did their job of keeping me completely satisfied with all their great natural protein!

Next up, my cumulative review of the Primal vegan jerky strips I received last month. I started reviewing a few of the flavors here, but after trying all the flavors on my China trip, let me tell you that they are all delicious.

Some of the varieties are made from seitan, some are mushroom (or tempeh), and others are soy, but all the strips have great texture and flavor.

I have never had actual meat jerky but these vegan strips were moist, chewy, and really tender. I loved the flavors that these came in, my favorites being Mesquite Lime and Texas BBQ<- both combined sweet and salty flavors for an awesome taste. All of the strips are a great solution for a protein filled snack (more than 10 grams per strip) and they only have between 80 to 120 calories. I will definitely be buying these regularly.

Emmy’s Organic’s sent me 5 flavors of their awesomely delicious and nutritious raw, vegan macaroons.

They sent Dark Cacao, Chai Spice, Lemon Ginger, Choco-Orange, and Choco-Chili. All are made with great wholesome ingredients like coconut, dark unsweetened cocoa, agave nectar, and raw nuts. I love how moist and flaky all of these macaroons were ( I have never had a macaroon before and was so impressed with these little treats). Each of the flavors were so unique and I love all the great nutrients that each macaroon packs.

My favorite flavor was the chai spice. It tasted like a soft, melt in your mouth vanilla-y  donut. I loved the awesome texture, from the chewiness of the coconut to the crumbly  crunch of the nuts.

The lemon ginger was a close second. I love lemon flavored things (lemon larabars are one of my fave flavors) and this macaroon had a great citrus smell and flavor. Sweetness combined with zesty lemon is one of the best combo’s in my opinion.

The Dark Cacao was another fabulous flavor. The slight bitterness from the dark cacao combined with the subtle sweetness from the agave nectar, made for a decadently rich macaroon without all the excess of added sugars.

The choco chili and the choco orange flavors were very unique and had great consistency just as the other macaroons. I am not a huge fan of orange chocolate in general but for someone that is, this macaroon was the perfect balance of citrus and chocolate. The choco chili on the other hand packed some great heat and reminded me of the Uli Manna choco-chili truffle I samples a few weeks ago. I think chocolate and chili is such an interesting flavor combo.

I think trying these Emmy’s Organics macaroons provided me a great first impression of these delicious treats. Now I know how Gina over at the Fitnessista feels when she raves about her homemade raw macaroons. Lucky for all of you I just added these babies to my store, so if your mouth is watering after reading this review, head on over there and try some for yourself. Believe me, you will not be disappointed. The five packs that Emmy’s sent barely lasted a day in my household. LOL!

Last but not least, Navita’s Naturals, a company that prides itself on providing its customers with “nutrient rich whole foods that are produced using organic agricultural methods with minimal processing”, sent me two of their superfood products to try.

I love the water bottle they sent! Nothing wrong with living green.

I have had cacao nibs in the past, but never sweetened ones. I loved the crunch of these, they add such great texture to what ever you put them on top of. I added them to my ONO and was pleasantly surprised by slight sweetness/bitterness these little nuggets had. Every time I have had cacao nibs in the past I have had to pair them with something sweet to cut down on their bitterness, but these were completely delicious on their own and sweet enough that I could even enjoy them on plain yogurt without needing extra sweetener. They are sweetened using evaporated cane juice and only have a minimal amount of added sugar because of it.

These are a really great options for yogurt, oatmeal, and smoothie toppings.

The other product they sent were Goldenberries.

I also tried these out as a topping for ONO and was pleasantly surprised buy their sweet and sour flavor. They had the texture of dried cherries with a little bit more chew to them. Upon trying them on their own they came across really sour at first but after chewing them, their subtle sweetness came out and I really like them paired with the sweetness from the banana softserve on my ONO. Again, these are another great topping they give awesome texture to any dish.

So there ya go 4 major reviews in one post! Overwhelming, I know, but with me gone for 2 weeks I was really behind on my sampling! If any of these peoducts stuck out to you or sounded really amazing, I highly suggest getting some. They were all really quality products.

News on my store: I now have 3 products available for purchase in my store!!!

* Garlic Gold Sea Salt Nuggets in a sampler 4 pack (I reviewed these flavorful little seasoners here)

*Emmy’s Organics Chai Spice and Lemon-Ginger Macaroons (my two favorites from my review above)

And of course…..

*Nuttzo PF spread (you already know my thoughts on this stuff….pure bliss.)

Well that’s all for me tonight. There will be a few more product reviews over the next few days but I will try to space them out so you guys aren’t bombarded. :)

Thanks for all the support and positive comments you all have been leaving about my store. You all are so great!
