That’s exactly who I have been feeling like lately.
I am writing this post right now at 5:00 in the morning (and I have already been up for 2 hours…bleh). Ever since I got back from China, my sleeping habits have been totally off. It’s so weird for me because I am an awesome sleeper (is there any awards for that? :)), but lately I am just a mess. Falling asleep during the day for hours at a time, falling asleep early (like last night around 7:50), not being able to fall asleep, waking up multiple times during the night, or waking up super early……this stuff has been happening to me for the past 6 days!!! I seriously craving some good REM sleep!
Well aside from my wacky sleeping, yesterday was a great day. It was nice and cool outside (about 75 degrees) and my mom and I took Ella for an hour long walk in the morning. She loved it and was running and playing the entire time. The weather really affects her energy level, when it’s hot and humid she gets tired so quickly and will lay down right on the sidewalk. I don’t blame her though, walking a long way on her little legs would get really tiring.
I was so excited to come home and eat breakfast. I had prepared PANCAKE mix (using my usual recipe) the night before and I couldn’t wait to make them up in the morning.
They came out a little burnt. But nothing a little softserve couldn’t fix!
Pancakes ala mode. Just the way I like ‘em.
I still have about five more samples packages that I am still in the process of reviewing so be prepared for some reviews over the next week or two. The companies were really generous with the samples and therefore there is a lot for me to try before I can put up a full review. Sampling so many (amazing) products is a hard job, but somebody has to do it. lol.
I did get a package yesterday, however, that I couldn’t wait to try. Kopali Organics sent me a bag of their dried Mulberries and Mangos.
Here’s a little background on their company (very impressive):
“Our goal was to support organic family farmers and their communities by connecting them with the growing market of people who care about the quality of the food they eat, as well as the environmental and social conditions under which it is grown, produced and traded. And today we directly supports hundreds of sustainable farmers and their communities in nearly a dozen countries around the world. We are also well on our way to delighting, nourishing and inspiring millions as they become part of a healthier, more sustainable and more compassionate world.”
I was excited to try their products because of the standards they have for all of their products:
– 100% organic and natural
– 100% vegan (no dairy, no animal products)
– Rich in vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and fiber
– Sustainably harvested and fairly traded
- Full serving of fruit per bag!
– No sugar, no sulfites, no oil, absolutely nothing added
- Premium Dark Chocolate
– Fair Trade Certified
– No cholesterol, no trans fats
So like the above info says, the fruit packages they sent me were no sugar added, which I always look for with dried fruit products. If you have been reading for awhile, you will know that I don’t like mango at all and especially dried mango. I have tried it in the past and it’s just never been my favorite. Because of this I figured I wouldn’t like the mango.
Let me just say, Kopali you proved me wrong!!! This stuff was awesome! Super sweet and the mango flavor was amazingly enjoyable. I could not belive how much I like this stuff. The texture was like a tough fruit leather and I loved how chewy it was. It just goes to show you that you can’t write off any foods because your taste buds are constantly changing and growing to appreciate different tastes and textures. If Kopali hadn’t sent me dried mango, I don’t know if I would have ever tried it again. I am so happy I did and I can definitely say this will be a new addition to our weekly shopping cart. Hey maybe I will even try fresh mango again?
With my taste buds already happy, I set out to try the mulberries.
The only other time I have ever had mulberries is in a Me and Goji cereal mix I ordered. I liked them in there so I was happy to receive a whole pack to experiment with. They were just a I remembered them….slightly crunchy, slightly chewy with a sweet almost licorice like taste. They are honestly one of the most unique fruits I have ever tasted and I would love to try them fresh. I will definitely be sprinkling these on future ONO combos and yogurt messes.
Thanks so much to Kopali for the awesome products and for introducing me to a new favorite food!
Later in the day, I was on such a mango kick, I bought some mango flavored coconut water ( I recently discovered that I like flavored coconut water as opposed to regular) as well as a pink guava flavored one.
My mom and I split both of them and loved them both!
Just so you all know, I added a few new products to my shop!
are now available to you all!!!
The first order in my shop was placed over the weekend! It was so exciting (thanks Uncle Pete!!!) and I can’t wait for more orders to roll in. If you purchase something, let me know what you think of it. I would love to hear your opinions and if you enjoyed the products as much as I have.
My stomach’s growling so it’s time to go feed the hunger monster…..I belive some overnight oats are in store.
Question of the day: What are your favorite ways to incorporate mango into a meal or recipe? I wanna try to using it in some new ways!
