Fading Fast

Don’t you feel like Summer is just slipping away from you…..I sure do. I can’t believe in less than two weeks I start my junior year of high school. I just don’t want Summer to end though…the long days, free time, no time constraints or homework or forced early wake ups. I mean I like the idea that the faster I get high school over with the faster I can get to college (which I can’t wait for), but with the oncoming school year just around the corner I can’t help but think of how long it will be till next Summer. I sure will miss it during the cold Buffalo winter, when my weekends are filled with history projects and English papers, and when life gets complicated with responsibilities. The seasons must change, however, and I guess I’ll just have to get ready for fall <-hey, at least that means outfitting a new fall wardrobe!! :)

Yesterday I had an early (for summer, that is) wake up call. I was up at 6:30 because I had to open the dry cleaner. Before I headed off to work, which was only a 4 hour shift (I NEED MORE HOURS!), I fueled up with my favorite breakfast!

Pumpkin ONO with Cherry ‘Nana Softserve. Weird combo, but out of this world deliciousness. I topped it with all the usual and even added a packet of the Brothers All Natural fruit crisps I was sent.

I have tried all the flavors now: peach, pear, apple, strawberry, and banana, and really love all of them. I love the crispness they have, they remind of fruit chips I have had before. They have all the crunch and munch but without added oil, frying process, or other ingredients. I think freeze drying is so cool and its a great, new healthy way to eat fruit. I’ve had the crisps for snacks, as yogurt or ono toppings, and in milk with cereal. There really versatile and I can’t wait to see what other uses I can find for them. My favorite fruits so far have been the strawberry and bananas. Yum!

When I got home from work, I made some breakfast for lunch in the form of an egg sandwich. Love breakfast foods all day.

Then my parents and I walked down to a bakery down the street from house (I feel like I say that a lot, “down the street from my house”….but its true, there are so many things right down the street from me :)) and got some some locally made ice cream.

Its called Lake Effect ice cream and its literally the best ice-cream I have ever had. They have so many unique flavors. Today all 3 of us got salted carmel. SO good…love sweet and salty together.

After hanging out outdoors for a few hours it was time for dinner and I convinced the ‘rents to go to my favorite restaurant, Merge. Sadly I forgot my camera and didn’t get to document my awesome Thai Wrap with Lemon Basil dressing. I have to duplicate this…..it was that good. I will work on a recipe and hopefully make it good enough to share with you all!

I don’t know how many of you watch Glee, but after last night I have become such a total Gleek! We just watched the first disc of the first season last night and I am loving it. Anyone else into this show? I’m hooked.

Looking forward to a lazy Sunday and to the food filled road trip my mom and I are planning for Monday. We’re going to Whole Foods (the closest one to us is in Canada), its about an hour away. My mom has never been and I know she’ll love it, we’re even getting lunch at their famous hot bar. Can’t wait for that perfect start to my week!
