All smiles now!
1 year later and I finally have my braces off!
I only needed bottom braces, but having them on for the past year was a PAIN, I feel for any of you that have full mouth braces<-that must be ten times worse. But anyway, it feels great to finally have them off…..my teeth feel so freeeee. Chewing without big metal brackets in my way today was so nice!
First day of Fall ‘fit:
In honor of the first day of fall, my mom and I made a fall favorite of our household….. turkey chili! So much better than beef in my opinion because you are able to taste all the other ingredients and the chili just turns out so flavorful.
We usually just kind of throw everything in the slowcooker without measuring or keeping track of amounts, but this time I decided to keep track so I could share this awesome comfort food with you all.
‘Time for Fall’ Turkey Chili
~1 lb lean ground turkey
~1 red and 1 green pepper, diced
~1 sweet potato
~1 onion, chopped
~1 zuchinni, diced
~1 bunch cilantro, finely chopped
~3 cans of beans, rinsed and drains (I used great northern, red beans, and black)
~1 28 oz diced tomatoes
~7 tbsp chili powder
~oregano and cumin
~2 cloves garlic finely chopped
~guacamole, fritos (family fav on chili :)), extra cilantro, greek yogurt, or salsa for topping
Brown turkey in a saute pan with a few tbsp of olive oil until almost cooked through. Place all ingredients into a slow cooker and cook on high for 3 hours or low for 6 (you could also cook this in a pot if you don’t have a slow cooker).
The result will be an amazingly flavorful chili….perfect to get you in the mood for fall flava’s!
The best part about this meal was eating it without braces!!!! I still am so excited.
Tomorrow is the return of all my favorite shows: The Office, 30 Rock, and a new one OutSourced! Can’t wait for my weekly comedy fix. Are you looking forward to the return of any primetime shows this fall?
Over the hump, the weekend is only two days away!
