Welcome to my first day of Best Body Bootcamp!
Today’s workout is mainly strength with a bit of cardio mixed in but I love how the program can be adapted to meet your needs and schedule. Tina provides a ton of modifications to either lessen or increase the difficulty of the different workouts.
Before starting the actual program Tina suggested we do a Fit Test so that we can track progress over the next 8 weeks. So in all the Fit Test will be conducted 3 times. Before, at 4 weeks, and at the end of the program at 8 weeks. Here are my Fit Test numbers:
Fit Test Results~
Upper Body (# of push ups completed with good form in 60 seconds): 54 on my toes
Lower Body (holding a wall sit with good form for as long as possible): 3 minutes 5.6 seconds
Core (elbow plank hold for as long as possible): 6 minutes 2 seconds
Power Fitness (#of burpees completed with good form in 60 seconds): 22
I don’t really know if these are good scores or not but I am definitely hoping they improve as the weeks go on! Especially the wall sit time! I feel like I could go up in minutes in that category.
Anyway, I’m really excited to try this program out and see how I like following an actual workout schedule.

More excitement to share with you all!
As you know, this past year at the end of each one of my posts I started sharing a small act of “healthy help”, as I call it, that I’ve done during the day. It’s just a little way to keep myself mindful of what I’m doing for others and to make sure I am doing my part (even if it’s just a little gesture) to help at least one other person everyday.
Recently, with the Sandy Hook shooting and Ann Curry’s 26 Acts projects, I’ve seen a dramatic increase in people going out of their way to help others! It is so necessary right now and so nice to see people reaching out and really making an effort to do some good.
I thought it would be a good idea to feature some of these little acts of kindness! So I present the “Lend a Healthy Hand” round-up project! You’ve seen it in my tag line, you’ve seen it at the bottom of my posts…but what really is lending a “healthy hand”?
Well despite what you may think it doesn’t even necessarily have to do with health and wellness. Lending a “healthy” hand can be any small (or large!) gesture of kindness towards someone else. I call it a healthy hand because usually when you do something good for someone it improves their life somehow which can make them a healthier individual and it also helps you! Studies have shown that people that go out of their way to be selfless and help others release more endorphins, are generally more happy, and live longer lives! So helping out seems pretty healthy to me!
Here’s how you can get involved:
At the start of the week I will open up submissions for you to send in a “healthy help” you’ve given. You can tweet it to me, email me (proulxkr@roadrunner.com), or write on my facebook page! Then at the end of the week I will do a wrap up post featuring all of you and all the ways you’ve made a difference throughout the week!
If you discuss the project on Twitter use the hashtag #healthyhelp and make sure to @ me so I can retweet your mentions!
Also in the end of the week wrap up post (that I will be doing on Friday’s!), I will have an area where you can link up if you decide to write your own Healthy Help post!
Sound good?
Here’s the button I came up with to represent the project! Feel free to put it on your blog or use it in a post where you mention the project!
Lend a {Healthy} Hand Round Up!
I hope this project can inspire others to be more mindful of how they can help out others on a day to day basis and contribute to the good deeds movement that is already underway in the US! This is a trend that needs to be kept going…its too important to let it fade into the background.
Let me know in the comments if you plan on contributing! And spread the word! I want to get as many submissions as possible! Also, in honor of doing something nice for others…in a few weeks after I gain a foundation for this project, I am having a huge giveaway for you all! I already went out and got all the stuff and I am pretty dang excited to share with you what I got! I love giving stuff away!
Thanks everyone! Go out today and lend a {healthy} hand where ever you can.
