Search Terms, Steals, and Silliness!

Keep the submissions coming for the Lend a {Healthy} Hand project! I haven’t gotten as many as I’d like but the ones I have gotten are amazing! You all are so inspiring with your generosity and kindness. Can’t wait to post them tomorrow!

In other news, today’s post is going to be a mish mash of random things!

First off, I wanted to share some of the funny search terms that have led people to my blog over the past week…I seriously do not know where these come from! (another thing I find funny is that multiple bloggers all seem to post about search terms at the same time…I had planned this post earlier in the week and when I opened my email today there were like 5 other bloggers who were posting about search terms…WEIRD!). Here’s some silliness…

bee keeper (yeaaah, not a career you’ll ever find me in…not a fan of buzzing or bugs in general!)

women peeing in cars (well, you all know I’ve peed underground in a subway, but certainly not in a car!)

where to find kabocha in Michigan (not from Michigan, but I definitely know where to find kabocha in Buffalo…in fact I think it’s kind of a secret gem, so I’m not telling! LOL)

swedish girl stereotypes (I didn’t even know there were stereotypes for swedish girls…what, tall and blonde? Or is that swiss? haha!)

no one likes a frowny face (I’d have to agree with that one!)

hairless asian dog (don’t have one of those but I do have a cute little pup of my own…who is all better now for those of you that asked about how she was doing!)

Yesterday my mom and I went to check out the Christmas Shoppe to see if we could score any after Christmas decoration deals. We’d never been there before and didn’t really know what to expect. It was kind of cheesy and pretty much reminded me of a Big Lots type place…and sadly they were pretty lacking in the decoration department (everything was pretty well picked over). But I did manage to leave with some good deals anyways…gotta love a bargain!

I picked up all the seeds I’ll need to plant my garden in the spring and a pretty pink basket to do some organizing in my room! All less than ten bucks!

And in regards to those seeds…has anyone ever planted butternut squash before? Did it grow well for ya? I am so excited to try my hand at growing my own squash!

From almost free (those seeds were SUCH a steal!) to completely free…Chobani sent me a shipment of their 3 most popular 32 oz containers. Perfect timing since I just ran out of yogurt for the week!

Thanks friends, for being my personal yogurt stockers! ;)

And one more dose of randomness before I wrap things up…

I’ve been keeping up with my 365 Memories in 365 Days (inspired by Amanda!)…ten days in and I have to say it really changes my perspective on things. Whether I’ve had a bad day, a good day, or a day that just seemed blaaah it’s nice to know that I can find something memorable and positive in it. I seriously cannot wait till next New Year when I can open up my jar of memories and reminisce about the year past.

Also, I’ve been really into letter writing lately! I for one LOVE getting mail (I’m gonna set up a PO box soon incase any of you want to write me!) and I actually like sending it too! So this past week I wrote a bunch of letters up to my friends who live out-of-state and they’ll be going out tomorrow! Can’t wait for their responses!

Oh and one last little thing to share before I go…

Gina posted this story on her blog today, but incase you didn’t see it I wanted to share. It seriously brought tears to my eyes…

“Being a veterinarian, I had been called to examine a ten-year-old Irish Wolfhound named Belker. The dog’s owners, Ron, his wife Lisa, and their little boy Shane, were all very attached to Belker, and they were hoping for a miracle.

I examined Belker and found he was dying of cancer. I told the family we couldn’t do anything for Belker, and offered to perform the euthanasia procedure for the old dog in their home.

As we made arrangements, Ron and Lisa told me they thought it would be good for six-year-old Shane to observe the procedure. They felt as though Shane might learn something from the experience.

The next day, I felt the familiar catch in my throat as Belker ‘s family surrounded him. Shane seemed so calm, petting the old dog for the last time, that I wondered if he understood what was going on. Within a few minutes, Belker slipped peacefully away.

The little boy seemed to accept Belker’s transition without any difficulty or confusion. We sat together for a while after Belker’s Death, wondering aloud about the sad fact that animal lives are shorter than human lives.
Shane, who had been listening quietly, piped up, ”I know why.”

Startled, we all turned to him. What came out of his mouth next stunned me. I’d never heard a more comforting explanation. It has changed the way I try and live.

He said,”People are born so that they can learn how to live a good life — like loving everybody all the time and being nice, right?” The Six-year-old continued,

”Well, dogs already know how to do that, so they don’t have to stay as long.”

Live simply.

Love generously.

Care deeply.

Speak kindly.

Remember, if a dog was the teacher you would learn things like:

When loved ones come home, always run to greet them.

Never pass up the opportunity to go for a joyride.

Allow the experience of fresh air and the wind in your face to be pure Ecstasy.

Take naps.

Stretch before rising.

Run, romp, and play daily.

Thrive on attention and let people touch you.

Avoid biting when a simple growl will do.

On warm days, stop to lie on your back on the grass.

On hot days, drink lots of water and lie under a shady tree.

When you’re happy, dance around and wag your entire body.

Delight in the simple joy of a long walk.

Be loyal.

Never pretend to be something you’re not.

If what you want lies buried, dig until you find it.

When someone is having a bad day, be silent, sit close by, and nuzzle them gently.”

That’s all for me tonight folks!

I love the search terms, I am always baffled by how people find my blog. Great moving story!
