WHY HAS IT TAKEN ME 17 YEARS TO SEE THIS MOVIE?

ferris-bueller

Currently watching (and LOVING) this movie. Now I know why it’s a classic.

Other Saturday shenanigans included:

Driving into a blizzard!

006

I know the picture doesn’t show much…but seriously the BIGGEST snowflakes of my life were coming down today! Pretty? Sure. But they don’t make for good driving.

And they are probably the main reason why I backed into a wall today…crushed my backlight and all. Good winter driver, I am not.

Munching Like It’s Muh JOB.

008

[swiss and jam tortilla with a NEW apple!]

Well it’s new to me any ways…BUT SO DELICIOUS. I think its called an Armanji apple? Anyone ever heard of these? It’s like a cross between a fuji, a honey crisp, and a pink lady…my THREE FAVORITE apples. So pretty much, I loved this.

009

Mooooore PB loving.

007

016

Reading!

018

[I love Kristen Bell!]

Sadly most of my Saturday “reading” was school related…but I did take a few breaks to catch up on some mags!

A good Saturday overall.

You may have noticed I didn’t mention anything fitness related though! Well, I’ve decided to take a little break from exercise for the next week or so (or at least dial back the intensity a bit!). You may recall I did this back in Summer for a little experiment and I really benefited from it! Its good to give your body a little breather every once in awhile. So if you’re friends with me on Daily Mile…you may seem a little less from me over the next few days in your feed and a few wimpier workouts in your feeds LOL!

Well, that’s all for me tonight folks! It’s snack time up in here!!!

The Weekend that Won’t End

And that is alright with me!!! Not only was this weekend amazing…but today was technically my “Friday”!

001

[went totally comfy for today’s outfit…uggs, leggings, and big, soft sweater!]

The Buffalo Public High Schools get off from school this week every year while make up state exams are administered! Luckily…I never have had to take a retake so I always just get a free week! SCORE. And lucky for my grade…this is the last year they are giving this week off to highschoolers…so we just made the cut!! Again…winning.

So let’s have a little weekend recap…shall we! There were plenty of things that made it one of the better ones in A WHILE!

-I got my last major essay for IB done!!

YES!!! Such a weight lifted off my shoulders. Granted I still have a few internal assessments and over 35 hours of exams to go…but baby steps people…baby steps. If you want to know what exactly the IB program is go here. That’ll give you an idea of how rigorous it is!

-I celebrated my dad’s birthday with a wonderful dinner and some nice family bonding!

021

-I prepped TONS of food for the week!

005

I make a batch of soup and some random side dishes every Sunday just to have a on hand for the week ahead. It makes packing lunches and making quick meals SO much easier!

-I got in a great outdoor run!

goodsundayrun

Seriously, I think we all need to give ourselves some praise sometimes and I have to admit, every time I complete a tough run outside…I feel really proud!

-Had a major grocery restock!

Gotta love a fully stocked kitchen.

Compared to the weekend today was pretty much a bust at school. All I could look forward to was the upcoming days off and I pretty much zoned out all day! But surprisingly the day went pretty quick and I got out of school ready to start my vacation!

Got in a SUPER workout!

partoneworkout

parttwoworkout

Might seem like a lot but I was SO energized today for some reason! I guess that’s what a few great days will do for ya! Plus I had a lot of magazines and TV shows to catch up on. Priorities people. Winking smile

Sweat Sesh Side Note:

Has anyone ever seen someone workout in their work clothes? There is this lady who I see almost every time I am at the gym, in dresses, blazers, skirts, dress pants, etc. working out on the machines! It is SO bizarre! She puts sneakers on and then just gets going! I mean seriously…how long does it take to change into some workout gear?! I wouldn’t want to be sweating and getting all nasty in my expensive work clothes. To each her own I guess?

[she might as well have been wearing this!!!]

My gym is just plain weird. Winking smile

Can’t wait to catch up on some much needed things this week and rejuvenate a bit before going head first into exam prep and such when I get back to school next week.

What was the highlight of your weekend?

What’s your favorite way to enjoy time off from work/school?

Need your help: I want to try the Arc Trainer tomorrow…but I’m a little intimidated! Does anyone have a good routine or workout for it that they’re willing to share?

Perks and Possibilities

(psssssst…did you check out this week’s WIAW yet?!)

A day off means lots of things…specifically getting to do things you normally don’t have time for. Lots of perks and possibilities come with free time. And I like it.

Perks and possibilities people…these were mine:

-Enjoying the beautiful sunshine with my Ella-

011

012

It was seriously gorgeous this morning…not one cloud in the sky.

-Sneaking in a nice morning run-

shakeoutrun

I miss morning workouts on school days!

-Running all kinds of errands for my mom-

Which may not seem like a “perk” but it means I get to take my bike out for a little ride around town…and that’s fun for me! Especially since it’s January and I am still able to ride my bike!

-Wandering the aisles of Target-

015

[had to resist buying these!]

003

[but couldn’t resist this…Bob and I are besties]

I literally cannot leave that place without buying something! Darn you Target.

-Having time to prepare some more “gourmet” meals-

014

013

Yummy tuna salad and a smoothie! Both take more time than I usually have during the week to prepare.

-Catching up and getting ahead on some school work-

Always a good thing!

-Being able to round up some of my recent faves for a  little FOODS OF THE MOMENT POST!-

That’s right…its back everyone!

Time for…

THE FOODS OF THE MOMENT!

002

I recently found these really awesome crisp breads made with wheat bran and ever since I have been wanting to experiment on my own with it! I found this HUGE bag on sale for TWO DOLLARS are my local health food store! Such a steal! Now I just have to find something to make with it! I definitely want to try out this recipe. Do you guys have any ideas?

007

[cinnamon date is my favorite Smile]

I reviewed for Manna Organics a while back, but after my huge stash ran out I didn’t really buy another loaf for a while. Well the hiatus is over! On a whim my mom actually wanted to try out this bread again (she didn’t really try it the first time). So we bought two loaves and they are already LONG gone! We’re all obsessed! My mom and I love the chewy, dense texture and sweet flavor! She seriously could not believe these loaves have such simple ingredients. I would love to try and recreate my own manna bread!

008

You all know I LOVE millet bread! But I have never actually had millet just cooked up on its own. In the newest issue of Clean Eating, there was a delicious looking recipe for Millet Patties. So I needed to get some millet….so happy I did because it is seriously delicious! So different than other grains I’ve tried! I highly recommend it if you’re looking for a change!

099

Okay…I am totally a cocoa convert. I’ve gone through two of these containers in the past month (not sorry Winking smile). Ever since I switched over from carob, I seriously cannot get enough! I crave this stuff like crazy and put it on every thing!!! My favorite way to use it is on a fruit cereal bowl! The bitterness of the cocoa goes SO well with juicy, sweet fruit and creamy almond milk!

What interesting foods are you loving right now?

I am taking more APP suggestions for the iPhone!!! Know of any good ones?

I am loving instagram and the pinterest app (yay for pinning on the go!)!

How do you like to spend days off?

I hate to admit it, but I am about ready for bed! This WHOLE week I;ve been turning in early. Guess my body is just craving a bit more sleep than usual! Nothing beats hitting that pillow when you are physically exhausted though…feels so good.

Have a restful relaxing night! You deserve it.
