Treat your pup (and yourself!) to these soft-baked Peanut Butter Cookie treats! Only 3 whole food ingredients, these cookies are vegan, gluten-free, and sweetened with dates. Sweet, delicious, and FULL of peanut butter flavor.
Living alone can be tough. That’s why I am SO grateful to have my pup, Ella, with me everyday. Yes, I still call her a pup (cause she acts like one!) even though she’ll be turning 8 years old this month. That’s right…June is her birthday month!
I just love having her around. She keeps me company, forces me to take breaks from work, and just makes me smile all day long. If you didn’t know, Ella, is my little yorkie. I’ve had her since she was 8 weeks old and could fit in the palm of my hand. To follow along with her and our adventures together, make sure you follow me on Instagram where I share pictures of her on my IG Stories daily.
So why am I talking about Ella today? Well, as I said, it’s her birthday month and she inspired the recipe I am sharing with you today! Every dog deserves a treat on their birthday and I always try to do something special for her each year. Even if she has no idea what’s going on, I feel good knowing that I am showing my love for her on the day she came into the world. 🙂
But what to make for a dog that loves whole foods just as much as I do!? Well, when I checked the calendar and saw that today is National Peanut Butter Cookie Day, I knew exactly what I should make. Peanut Butter Cookie Dog Treats that are tasty enough (and safe!) for humans to munch on too. After all, I never share a recipe that I haven’t tried myself, so I knew I needed to make something that I could eat and Ella would LOVE as well.
And that’s how these vegan, gluten-free Peanut Butter Cookie Dog Treats were born!
- Preheat oven to 350. In a food processor, combine dates and water. Puree until smooth. In a large bowl, combine date mixture with flours. Spoon mixture onto a parchment paper lined baking sheet (makes 12 cookies). Bake for 20 minutes.
Soft baked, vegan, gluten-free, and only 3 ingredients. The sweetness of the dates pairs perfectly with the nuttiness of the peanut flour and makes for a DELICIOUS cookie for both you and your pup!
I seriously can’t get enough of these. Yes, they’re meant for Ella…but honestly, I think I’ve eaten more of them than her. I like them straight out of the freezer where they get this amazingly fudgy texture. So good.
Ella loves them too! Though she’s not very picky. I think the only thing that would make her go even more crazy for them is if I added carrots…she ADORES carrots! I can’t bring them out in the kitchen without her going crazy.
Hmm maybe my next dog treat creation will involve carrots and peanut butter? I do love that combo myself! Oops, there I go again making dog treats that I want to devour. 😉
