Hi friends (yes, you’re all my friends even though I’ve never met you :))!
My mom told me some really exciting news today! We might be getting……..
I am beyond excited…..I have wanted one for so long (I even included buying one on my 101 in 1001 list!). Our food processor is very old and our blender is starting to go too, so when I told my mom that a Vita-Mix is basically both of those things combined, she said she’d look into getting one! YAY! Hopefully everything works out and we actually do get one!
Speaking of working out…..I am still stuck not being able to do my usual workouts and it’s killing me! I am going stir crazy! Now that I haven’t exercised at the normal level I usually do for the last few days, I realize how much extra energy I have that I usually release through exercise! I miss RUNNING so much! To make up for my lack of being able to do any real cardio, today I just did Jillian Michaels Level 2 and 3 30 Day Shred.
That might sound like a lot but I had to modify a lot of the moves to because of my knee.
What kind of workouts do you guys do when you have a lower body injury?
Have you ever heard of Follow Your Heart brand?
They are the makers of fabulous vegan products that replace foods like cheese, mayonnaise, cream cheese, salad dressings, and other unfriendly-to-vegan foods!
The generous people over at FYH sent me some coupons to sample a few of their products. I was happy to find that my grocery store (Wegmans, represent!) carried a whole bunch of them. Here’s what I picked up:
Vegan Gourmet Nacho Vegan Cheese: I am usually not a huge fan of faux-food products (think fake meat and cheese), but I was pleasantly surprised with this stuff. I chose the nacho flavor because I wanted to test it melting capability claim.
This stuff did not disappoint! After heating it up in the microwave for a bit, it got super melty and thick.
The flavor actually reminded me of actual nacho cheese dip and it was very spicy (which I liked!!!). Overall I liked the consistency and flavor. Even the ingredients didn’t look to bad for being Vegan cheese:
INGREDIENTS: Filtered water, expeller pressed canola oil, jalapeno peppers, soy protein, tofu (soybeans, calcium sulfate), inulin (a natural extract of chicory), pimientos, spices, agar agar, sea salt, carrageenan, Brewer’s yeast, calcium lactate (vegan), lactic acid (vegan), annatto
I also bought a jar of their signature product, Veganaise.
This is obviously a vegan alternative to mayonaise and I used to always like mayonaise (well Miracle Whip actually) on my sandwiches when I was little, so I was excited to test out a healthy alternative. I was excited to find out the ingredients in this stuff (all REAL and pronouncable!):
No hydrogenated soy bean oil or high fructose corn syrup like the regular stuff!
While the nutrionals are pretty similar to regular mayo, FYH’s Veganaise is ten times healthier and I would say…..TASTIER! It’s tangy with a slight sweetness and very thick and creamy. I really loved the texture and how smooth/spreadable it was. I honestly couldn’t believe how close FYH was able to get their vegan version to the original! They are so similar that I can’t even believe the Veganaise is vegan…..it seems to be lacking nothing in comparison with its unhealthy counter-part. Definitely good buys in my book.
Thanks Follow Your Heart for introducing me to some new healthy alternatives!
AND now, in reference to the title, I am always curious to find out how people find my blog. Sometimes it through comments, twitter (follow me if ya want!!! @healthy_helper), or link backs……but other times it’s through search engine terms! I love seeing the terms people type in to end up at my blog! Here are a few……interesting ones:
- awesome salad
- how do I get big oatmeal flakes? <buy them perhaps???
- unusual cakes breast cancer <no idea with this one!
- kale brownies <never thought of that before!
So tell me, how did you find my blog?
If you have a blog, what are some crazy things people have typed in to get to yours?
