Hi friends! Wanted to give you all a big thank you for all the amazing feedback, support, and encouragement on my last post. This new path that I’m on is already proving to be very challenging, even one day in. But I’ve maintained my contract with myself so far. So that is a win. That said, your continued support is definitely going to be much appreciated. Today is WIAW of course! This one is special because it’s one of those rare times I was able to capture a FULL day of eats! So instead of WIAW it’s WIASunday! But before I get into that I wanted to share with you a product I recently was able to try! Not only was it a new to me brand, but a new to me type of food as well! QUARK! It’s just sort of fun to say too! WIA[Sunday] WIA[Sunday]  Elli Quark sent me 5 of their flavors to try out! So what is Quark anyways? According to the nice people at Elli, Quark is “a spoonable fresh cheese with a creamy texture similar to Greek yogurt, but with a richer, less sour taste. It also has a better protein-to-carb ratio than Greek yogurt, with high protein and no added sugars. WIA[Sunday]I didn’t know quite what to expect in terms of flavor when I dove in but I was surprised to see how similar in texture the quark was to greek yogurt. Very thick and creamy! As for the taste, definitely not as tangy and ‘sour’ as greek yogurt (which I actually like about greek yogurt!). Quark definitely has a more subtle taste to it. I used the plain as a base to compare all the other flavors to. I wouldn’t say the plain had a particularly ‘cheesy’ flavor to it…but it did remind me of the taste of cottage cheese a bit. I enjoyed the plain and ate it as I would eat normal yogurt! The red velvet tasted like strawberries to me for some reason and was a little sweet for my liking. The lemon reminded me of lemon meringue and I enjoyed the tanginess and sweetness it had. The strawberry reminded me of a strawberry flavored candy and the pineapple tasted like fresh pineapple! I like that each yogurt was pre-blended as opposed to fruit on the bottom as well.WIA[Sunday]Definitely worth trying if you’re looking for an alternative to your typical greek yogurt! Thanks Elli!

Yes to Quark! It’s an old stand-by over here in Germany and actually my favourite form of dairy – given it’s one of the gelatin-free kinds. While I know the classic American cheesecake is made from cream cheese ours is usually based on Quark. Other than that there are millions of other uses for Quark. Maybe in those places where others would use Greek yogurt which – unless we’re talking about the full-fat [10%] kind – is still a rare find. And now I just rambled about Quark for the length of a whole paragraph, haha.
By the way: I’ll be over for ice cream at your place because homemade is awesome!
