Friends, I am on a FOODIE HIGH! If you didn’t know, last weekend was the annual Expo East Convention in Baltimore! This is my fourth year attending and I swear it gets bigger and better every year. Of course I know Expo West is even more HUGE (which I can’t even imagine!), but the east coast event is so close to me that I can’t help but not go. 🙂
It’s such a great way to connect with brands, meet the company representatives I’ve communicated with over the years, discover new products, and of course try AMAZING new healthy foods!
I go for one day every year. Fly in and fly out the same day! It’s a whirlwind but totally worth it! After a few flight mishaps this year, I finally made it to the convention center and was greeted with food heaven….as always.
A few trends I noticed at this year’s event…
+MEAT MEAT MEAT (in bars, in jerky, in everything!)
+jackfruit (as a meat alternative and ready to eat ‘protein’)
+gluten free baked goods (donuts, cronuts, soft pretzels…you name it!)
+dehydrated veggies (kale chips are so last year…now we’re on to brussels sprouts, broccoli, cauliflower, fava beans, and peas!)
+veggie infused foods (hidden veggies in cookies, crackers, chips, bars, squeeze packs, even granola!)
+tumeric infused drinks (I tried a turmeric ginger shot…SPICAAAAY!)
+still a big emphasis on PALEO (this was a trend that continued from last year!)
I was sad that my friends from Larabar, Thunderbird Bar, and Kolat Superfood weren’t there this year….always look forward to seeing them. But I made up for it by visiting the awesome people behind Crazy Richard’s PB, Paleo Simplified, Tiny But Mighty, Sunfood, Mediterra, and RXBar! It was so great finally putting names to faces and seeing some familiar friends.
I made my way through the entire show hall and was generously given a lot of stuff to take home and try for myself! The companies certainly treat bloggers well. I value the chats I was able to have with workers and owners of the companies. It’s so great to hear from people who are passionate about their business and about helping others lead healthy lifestyles! I obviously can’t show you everything I picked up, but I wanted to highlight what I am most excited to try and show you an overview of everything else I got (sort of separated by category!).
