Though I’m not vegan myself, I do love vegan food! Vegan, plant-based living incorporates my favorite foods into every meal and I love the lifestyle’s focus on whole, real food. Recently I was sent a copy of the newest cookbook from vegan goddess herself, Dreena Burton!
If you’re not familiar with Dreena, you’re missing out. She’s a fellow blogger and everything she makes is simply mouth-watering! Yes, her cookbook is vegan, but her food is so good that it will appeal to people from all different dietary practices.
The fifth book from Dreena is called Plant-Powered Families and its main mission is to get the whole family (including kids, picky eaters, or meat loving husbands!) to embrace healthy, plant-based eating.
The book is broken down in to 4 key areas: the introduction which explains the benefits and the basics of adopting a plant-based lifestyle, the recipe section with over 100 vegan recipes the whole family will love, a solutions guide to help you deal with any challenges that a plant-based lifestyle may prevent, and a support section with cooking guides, meal plans, and nutrient charts! Everything is very straight forward and Dreena provides a lot of extra advice on how to get kids on board with healthy eating.
But let’s focus on the most important part….the FOOD. As I scrolled through the pages, I found myself dog-earing almost every one! There is a section for everything….healthy breakfasts, light lunches, dressings & sauces, main meals, and of course amazing vegan desserts! Some of the recipes that are on top of my ‘to make’ list are the No Bake Granola Bars, Simplest Marinated Baked Tofu, Tofu Feta, and Oatmeal Banana Bites (the perfect vehicle for peanut butter!). If you’re getting hungry just thinking about the delicious recipes in this cookbook, you’re in luck! Dreena has graciously offered to give one of my readers (US and Canada only…sorry!) their very own copy of Plant-Powered Families. You can enter to win this amazing book and EIGHT other awesome prizes (including a FitBit, iTunes giftcard, Stuffums Natural Cookie Dough Butter, Yurbuds, and more!) through the #HealthLoopGiveaway I am hosting with some fabulous bloggers on Instagram right now.
