Happy Friday, friends! All I can say is thank god this week is over! LOTS AND LOTS of school work was assigned and it felt like it took extra long to get through since I have a few days off next week. I am dubbing this the weekend of catch up! On schoolwork, on blog work, on LIFE in general. There have been tons of changes for my family recently and we are all sort of still adjusting so to say things have been a little hectic is an understatement. This ‘fall break’ next Monday and Tuesday is MUCH needed.

One thing I love about blogging is connecting and becoming friends with other bloggers! Earlier this year, my friend Kim of The Coconut Diaries started her very own online baking business. She is the QUEEN of protein baked goods and now she’s sharing her talents with the rest of us! Beechie’s Bakehouse specializes in ready to make mugcake mixes and protein brownies. Kim the 3 different flavors that she currently has of the mugcake mixes. If you’ve been reading for a while, you know I sometimes struggle with making mugcakes. I have a few good recipes but when I try to just wing it, they usually don’t turn out. Kim’s mixes are FOOL-PROOF (or Kaila proof!). All you do is dump the mix in a mug (or bowl) and add a half cup of water. Pop it in the microwave for the given amount of time and you’re left with the most amazingly soft and fluffy mugcake EVER. These babies are perfect! I love that they are not overly sweet and really taste like the flavors they are supposed to. I don’t think I could pick a favorite but I have to say I LOVED the chunks of pecans in the banana nut and the chunks of pineapple in the tropical. What can I say? I’m a chunk lover! 😉 I hope everyone gets a chance to try these someday because they are for sure what a mugcake is supposed to taste like. They’re gluten-free, sweetened with stevia, and made from whole natural ingredients! Gotta love ’em.

Staying on the protein treat theme, Eat Me Guilt Free also makes healthy baked goods. There’s are loaded with protein (22 grams per serving!) and healthy fats. Also they are only sweetened only with stevia and made from wholesome ingredients like whey, unsweetened cocoa, almond oil, and egg whites. They come in four varieties: Chocolate Brownie, Blondie Brownie, Limited Edition Pumpkin Spice, and Limited Edition Chocolate Chocolate Chip. If you ever dreamed of having a brownie post-workout, now you can! I love love loved each of the flavors. The chocolate ones were rich and fudgy, the pumpkin spice literally tasted like a fresh pumpkin cookie, and the blondie nice and peanutty! I also really liked the texture…almost like a soft, dense sponge cake! Great products and they taste even better warmed in the microwave for a few minutes. I honestly could not believe how much I enjoyed these. If it weren’t for the price, I think they’d become a regular staple in my household!

Boy am I excited to have DeLand Bakery back in my life! I reviewed their breads YEARS ago and since then have been looking for breads like theirs but available closer to me. Well, I’ve just had to accept that nothing compares to their millet bread products! This time they sent me some of their millet breads I have yet to try as well as their MILLET BAGELS. People, if you haven’t tried millet based bread products, you’re missing out. They toast PERFECTLY and remind me of the fresh italian bread my grandma used to make for me as a kid. Crunchy, light, and naturally sweet! I’ve been slowly making my way through their Zucchini Millet, their No Salt Added Millet, their Garlic Basil Millet, their Oatmeal bread, and their Plain Millet & Cinnamon Raisin Millet bagels. The bagels are huge! And all of these products are made from the simplest ingredients…literally just whole grain millet, brown rice flour, sea salt, filtered water, and whatever add-ins are needed to make the specific flavor. DeLand Bakery is also certified organic AND certified gluten-free!
