This is one of those Foods of the Moment posts that I am especially excited for because it features a giveaway from a company who I feel like I’ve watched ‘grow up’ over the years! My friends at Kalot Superfood (formerly Kolat Superfood Fusions) have recently rebranded, redesigned their packaging, and come out with some amazing new products. I am so proud of Jess and her team and to help them celebrate I am going to giveaway two jars of their AMAZING nut butter to one lucky reader.
If you’re unfamiliar with their products, you’re missing out! They’re nut butters are a blend of fruit, nuts, and spices that come together to form some of the most unique flavor combinations you’ve ever heard of. Things like Cherry Vanilla Almond Butter, Dark Chocolate Coconut Almond Butter, Almond Butter with Blueberries, Cinnamon and Walnuts, Espresso Beans and Hazelnut Almond Butter, Chocolate Chip and Chia Seed Cashew Butter, Blueberry Vanilla Chia Seed Cashew Butter, White Chocolate Strawberry Cashew Butter, Apple Cinnamon Sunflower Seed Butter, and Chocolate Cherry Sunflower Seed Butter!
Their products are FULL of antioxidants, healthy fats, protein, and of course, a taste that is like none other. Did I mention they have no added sugars? Even the chocolate flavors! My favorite is the Cherry Vanilla Almond Butter (but I have yet to try the new sunflower and cashew varieties so that could change!). It seriously tastes like cherry pie! Most times I eat it right out of the jar. 🙂
So if you want to win your own jars of their newly packaged nut butters, scroll down to the end of this post to enter.
But before that, check out all of the other Foods of the Moment for this week!
Columbia County Bread & Granola is made up of a small team of bakers who are dedicated to producing healthy, whole food products made from simple ingredients. They specialize in sprouted wheat breads and flax granola. I was sent a few of their unique products to try for myself!
Sprouted Whole Grain Bread and Sprouted Whole Grain Pita-These two products are essentially made from the same ingredients and thus they were very similar in taste and texture. Hearty, dense, and very wheat-y tasting. I like simple when it comes to bread and with these it doesn’t get any more basic. Just sprouted wheat, salt, and water. There’s no denying you will know exactly what is going into your bread products with this company. I love that they don’t use any sweeteners or even preservatives! I would suggest toasting the bread to really bring out its taste and texture. The pita was great warmed up and slightly toasted under the broiler! Ate it with some of my Greek Spiced Turkey Burgers.
Orange Poppyseed Sprouted Whole Grain Flatbread-Think lemon poppyseed but with a slight savory flavor and more citrus-y goodness! I never thought I would like an orange flavored cracker but these were pleasantly surprising. Again, made with very simple ingredients and GREAT texture. They were so thin and crunchy. I loved the addition of poppy seeds and flax seeds on the outside of the crackers.
Ginger/Chia Flax Seed Granola– If you’re a ginger lover…this is for you! The ginger flavor is robust…but not too overwhelming and it is nicely balanced with the sweetness of molasses. I loved the inclusion of blueberries in this. The granola clumped together a lot and I really liked snacking on big chunks of it at a time. It is very crunchy and does not get soggy in milk quickly at all. This is the POWER HOUSE of granolas. Aside from the flax, it’s rich in omega-3s from the chia seeds and sunflower seeds. It’s totally paleo and gluten-free, as well!
Overall, great tasting, high quality, healthy food. Can’t beat that!
Naked PB from Naked Nutrition is 100% powdered peanut butter with NOTHING added. No sweeteners, fillers, or weird additives. As a peanut butter purist….I LOVE THAT. Nut butter is one of my favorite foods, but I also have a soft spot for peanut flour/powder. It’s great for adding peanut butter flavor to smoothies, yogurt, oatmeal, sauces, and baked goods. Plus it’s high in protein and since this one has no other ingredients besides peanuts, you know you’re getting a quality, whole food source of it. I loved the clean, roasted peanut flavor of this peanut butter powder! Some peanut butter powders taste bland, or even bitter! But not Naked PB…they’ve done a really great job of perfecting their roasting and powdering process!
Definitely a good option if you’re in the market for a healthy, natural peanut flour/powder!
One plus of my NYC trip earlier this summer? Getting exposed to a TON of cool, new health food brands that are not available to me locally! As I was browsing through a store one day, I came across Joni Juice and knew I had to reach out to them about trying their juices. In a place like New York, the market is saturated with pressed juices…but something about Joni Juice caught my eye. I don’t know if it was the vibrant color or the unique flavor profiles, but I was sold immediately. Their juices are some of the freshest, most flavorful ones I’ve ever had. Here are my thoughts on the four flavors I was sent…
Invigorate Me-I never would have thought of pairing mint and pineapple together but it was so delightful. Sweet and tropical, yet cool and refreshing from the hint of mint! Also, love that there is turmeric added. I’m not the biggest fan of its taste, but I know how good it is for me. In this you couldn’t detect it at all.
Immunize Me-Is it possible to feel healthier after drinking a juice? That’s how I felt after this one! The combo of orange, carrots, lime, and ginger made for an amazingly sweet and spicy juice. I loved the addition of ginger and lime. It made this feel like a kicked up orange juice and the carrots added great flavor as well.
Give Me Greens-This was your classic green juice with a little something unique. The strong kale taste was perfectly counteracted with sweet apple, lemon, ginger, and of course a little mint. Cool, refreshing, and very hydrating!
Satisfy Me-Technically this is a smoothie and not a juice, but it was still just as amazing as the others. I would describe this as a thicker than a juice and INCREDIBLY creamy. Made from almonds milk, a mix of nuts and seeds, dried fruit, and bit of honey, this felt like a decadent dessert in drink form. It reminded me of a melted milkshake in a way and I loved how satisfying it was. Perfect as part of a post-workout snack!
And now for that Kalot giveaway I promised! Enter below to win….
