I’m ALIVE!!! I had the best of intentions of posting Wednesday night or yesterday…but frankly this week has been a bit crazy! Kind of a whirlwind actually! SO many highs and lows…but luckily all the good stuff definitely outdid the bad stuff.
Let me start with Wednesday…it was WIAW of course and I enjoyed reading everyone’s posts. I had a routine doctors appointment after school and after receiving a clean bill of health I got my first bit of GREAT news!
Remember a few weeks ago I mentioned that I was in the running for a HUGE scholarship? I had a long day of interviewing and “competition” against about 200 other local highschoolers who were also up for one of the 5 coveted spots. Well yesterday as I was leaving the doctors, I got a call from the Vice President of admissions that I had been one of the five candidates selected for the full ride!!! I was ECSTATIC!! And to think I almost didn’t take the call!
I really can’t even describe how I am feeling right now…to think that I could come out of school with no debt whatsoever is really incredible. This really brings so much more into my decision making process for college! These next few weeks are going to be FULL of discussion with my parents about my options and a lot of thinking on my part!
Shortly after receiving that call the universe decided to throw another big event at me! My mom and I were on our way home when all of the sudden we were rammed in the back by the car behind us! No one was seriously injured or anything but my neck was really bothering me for the next day or so because of the whip lash. And guess what the person behind us was doing just before hitting us? Looking down and texting. So frustrating!
I feel especially bad for my mom because the whole bumper of her brand new car is completely ruined. But on the bright side everything is in the process of getting resolved and like I said before, no one was seriously hurt!
With all the excitement over the past few days, I definitely am happy its Friday! I started my weekend a little early this week with a great Bikram class last night and a “mental health” day today . Gotta love three day weekends.
Since it is Friday and I enjoy taking part in the weekly “favorites” posts…I thought it would be the perfect time to share a list with you that I have been meaning to post about for a while.
A few weeks ago I started to see a few bloggers posting lists of 5 physical things they loved and appreciated about their bodies. I thought this was such a great little challenge! I say “challenge” because I think a lot of us struggle sometimes to find positive things within ourselves…especially things having to do with our appearance and physical make up.
Of course whats inside counts more than anything else….but I do think its important to still love our outsides just as much as our inner beauty.
So this Friday is Body Loving Friday. Challenge yourself to think of 5 things that you love and appreciate about your body. Here’s my list:
1. My Eyes
[had some fun with picture editor!]
I really like that my eyes are green. Not many people in the world have green eyes and for some reason I have always loved that color! My eyes also remind me of my dad because he has the same pigment as well. They make me feel kind of unique in a way and I always feel pretty when I look at my eyes.
2. My Legs
Like my mom, I build muscle really easily. That means my legs have always been really strong! I am able to define them pretty quickly and I love knowing that they are there to carry me day in and day out! Seriously, your legs do EVERYTHING for you!
3. My Shoulders
Another area I build muscle in really easily. I used to be afraid of getting really big bulky shoulders, but now I just embrace the fact that they are strong and solid!
4. My Knees
A lot of athletes and fitness enthusiasts have problems with their knees…including a TON of people in my own family. At this point I have yet to experience any serious knee problems and I think my knees are relatively strong and healthy. I really appreciate this because knees are notorious problem areas and are involved in so many of our day to day and fitness activities.
5. My Teeth
Weird huh? Oh well…I really do like my chompers! I used to be embarrassed by my big front teeth when I was little…and people always made comments about the huge gap I had! But I learned to kind of embrace these subtle flaws and like my mouth for what it is. Eventually I “grew into” my teeth and the gap closed, but the love for my teeth hasn’t changed! They are pretty naturally straight and white and they help me make my favorite expression….a smile.
I always feel kind of vain making lists like these…but I think we all need to realize that its okay to feel good about ourselves! Early in my blogging career I wrote a post about writing a love letter to yourself…it kind of falls under the same concept as this little exercise! So you can go check that out if you’d like!
And what better time to think about this type of stuff then National Women’s Month!
Now it’s your turn! Tell me one physical thing you like about yourself!
Hope everyone has a wonderfully fulfilling weekend! I have a few yoga sessions planned, volunteering at the SPCA, and some much needed grocery shopping! Oh and look out for a fun recipe tomorrow (gotta love day off baking!!).
