Other than blogger, traveler, and aspiring yogi, I also consider myself to be a breakfast enthusiast, so naturally I wanted to share a breakfast recipe.
I haven’t always been a breakfast enthusiast though. Growing up I was never into it, I didn’t enjoy pancakes, wasn’t a fan of cereal, and hated eggs with a passion. In high school, I usually just left the house without anything for breakfast, I have no idea how I survived. Nowadays I go to bed plotting what I’m going to eat when I get up and am excited to wake up for it. I’m also making up for all those missed breakfasts by eating breakfast for any and every meal. Including cereal for dessert.
Oatmeal is always my go to breakfast (along with jumbo bowls of nana ice cream), but in the summer a warm cozy bowl of oats does not appeal to me in the slightest. So the answer is always overnight oats! Throw everything together the night before, leave ‘em in the fridge, and in the morning a beautiful breakfast awaits.

Have you jumped on the golden milk train yet? I remember when Nutrition Stripped first posted about it a few years ago and now it’s become such a hot trend! Unlike a lot of trends (like The Bachelor or making all foods rainbow), I’m into it.
Turmeric is powerful, beautiful, and tastes so good. Along with turmeric, oats, chia seeds, cinnamon, a touch of nutmeg, a little sweetener, and almond milk go into a jar to whip up this simple breakfast. The blend of spices give these golden milk overnight oats a comforting, bold, and earthy flavor.
Just look how bright and vibrant they are too! How can you possibly have a bad day when you basically ate sunshine for breakfast?!
Golden Milk Overnight Oats
- Yield: 1 serving
- Category: Breakfast Foods
- 1/2 cup rolled oats
- 2 tsp chia seeds
- 1/2-1 tsp turmeric (depends on your preference!)
- 1/4 tsp cinnamon
- 1/8 tsp nutmeg
- 1 cup almond milk
- 5-10 drops liquid stevia (sub with sweetener of choice)
- topping options: strawberries, bananas, chopped apples, buckwheat groats, granola
- In a jar or container, combine the oats, chia seeds, and spices and mix.
- Add in the almond milk and stevia. Stir or put the lid on the container and shake until well combined.
- Let sit in the fridge overnight.
- In the morning, remove from fridge and give a little mix. If they’re too thick, mix in a little more almond milk until they reach a consistency you feel is perfect.
- Top with fruit, granola, seeds, or whatever your heart desires and enjoy!
