Hope everyone’s weekend has been fun and relaxing so far! Almost time for another busy work week, so I am soaking up these last few hours of freedom time for sure!
Before I get to the yummy eats I got to try out recently (thanks Natures Path!), I wanted to share with you the AMAZING film my mom and I watched last night.
You’ve probably heard of it before……it’s called Forks over Knives and it is truly incredible. I love watching documentaries about the health and the food industry (Food Inc. is one of my faves!). But this one was right up there!
Here’s a quick synopsis:
FORKS OVER KNIVES examines the profound claim that most, if not all, of the degenerative diseases that afflict us can be controlled, or even reversed, by rejecting animal-based and processed foods. The major storyline in the film traces the personal journeys of a pair of pioneering researchers, Dr. T. Colin Campbell and Dr. Caldwell Esselstyn.
Those two gentleman are my new hero’s seriously! They are right on in their ideals and research and I wish more people new about their amazing work and philosophies.
This movie really makes you examine the entire system the American diet has been built up on and is so informative and shocking when it comes to relating diet with so many of the diseases that afflict us nowadays. I am truly inspired. Whatever I do when I get older, I want it to be something where I can expose people to the truth behind the food industry and the importance of good health and nutrition.
GO WATCH THIS MOVIE NOW!
A few weeks ago Natures Path sent me a lovely (and LARGE) package of goodies to sample! I wish I would have taken a picture of the box they came in! It looked like a treasure chest…..so cool!
And what was inside was certainly comparable to a chest full of gold!
But much yummier of course
[Flax Plus Instant Oatmeal, Smart Bran Cereal, Pumpkin n’ Spice Granola Bars, Crunchy Maple Sunrise Cereal, and Peanut Butter Granola!]
Peanut Butter Granola
Favorite Product Alert!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This stuff was incredible. You already know my thoughts on PB (pretty much the same as everyone else in the world….I LOOOOOVE IT!), but I had never had a PB flavored cereal before. Let me just say, I have been missing out!
The flavor was amazingly peanutty and I loved the actual WHOLE peanut pieces in it. So crunchy and it tasted incredible in creamy cool milk.
The nutritionals were pretty similar to PB per serving actually!
Works for me!
Flax Plus Instant Oatmeal
I am usually not a big instant oatmeal person…the texture and fullness factor just don’t work for me. But this stuff is waaaay different! I loved the consistency! Very comparable to regular oatmeal and the addition of flax definitely upped the satiety factor! The serving size was a little small when cooked so I would use these more for snacks than an actual meal.
The only issue I had with these was that they were presweetened and I have ABSOLUTELY no sweet tooth….so it was a little much for my taste buds. I like adding flavor from fruit and other toppings, but with this I guess you don’t need those cause its already got some flavor in it!
Pumpkin N’ Spice Granola Bars
“Pumpkin Spiiiiiiiiice Latte”……Otherwise known as my dad’s signature catch phrase during the Fall (referring to the ones at Starbucks of course ). He’s a big fan of pumpkin just like me…so we were both excited to try these out!
Think of them as “pumpkin spice latte” in bar form! Love love love the bits of pumpkin seed and the pumpkin flavor was perfectly paired with fall inspired flavors and spices! The bars are a bit small for my volume-needing stomach, but as an addition to a snack I think these would work great! I love all the different flavors and textures going on in these bars!
Crunchy Maple Sunrise
Well, with a name like that it must be good right? RIGHT! I loooove crunch in my cereals and this one did the trick! No sogginess in sight! Like I said before I am usually not a fan of overly sweetened cereals, but this one wasn’t so bad! There seemed to be juuuuust the right amount of sweetener and the maple flavor was delightful!
Another product with some Fall flair to it!! Love that!
Now this stuff was right up my alley! Not too sweet, crunchy to the extreme, and pretty simple to! One of my fave cereals is Ezekiel nuggets and this stuff really reminded me of it!! The little nuggets are amazing dredged in milk! They stay completely crunchy and the awesome ingredients made eating them even more enjoyable! My mom thought these were a bit to plain (she called me an old women for liking bran so much…LOL), but I loved ‘em! I guess simplicity is best when it comes to my taste in cereals!
Thank you SO much Natures Path for all the wonderful goodies! You really have an amazing line of products and an even better company!!
Have nice night everyone!
PS: Another giveaway coming up on Tuesday! So stay tuned for that! Also I want to do another Q and A post, so ask away over on Formspring!
