Happy LONG weekend everyone! (or at least to those of you who have one…I am sorry to those who don’t!) I will never understand why colleges choose to start school a week before Labor day! Why not just wait the extra week to start since we’re all going to get a day of anyway?! But hey, I am not complaining about a day off! Its gonna sound pretty pathetic…but I needed it after this week!
As with most of the other kids at my school I ventured home for the long weekend (even though my 3 block hike wasn’t as long as some of my friends!….still feels nice to be home though!).
[my “second” home]
Of course, I enjoyed my first week of college, but I will be the first one to admit that it was CHALLENGING! Just adjusting to being away from home on top of all the course work has certainly been a bit overwhelming. But you know what they say…it takes 30 days of anything to get comfortable and form a new routine…so I just need to stick it out till then.

My week wrapped up with a few meetings for various clubs on campus and a Meet and Greet with the honors program staff! Both were really fun and I loved getting to meet even more people on campus!
Although I have a lot of work to get done this weekend, I am looking forward to at least a little bit of fun and hopefully a lot of de-stressing.
Here’s what’s going on for today:
-the completion of my virtual 10 miler with Laura from Mommy Run Fast–
I accidentally mixed up the dates last weekend and ran 10 then! I wasn’t sure if I would get around to it again this weekend, but I woke up this morning with a new audio book on my iPhone and an urge to run. So a race it was! And the book I am reading (or well, listening to!) is actually really good! It’s for school an it’s called Beautiful Ruins by Jess Walter! Have you heard of it?
As for the virtual 10 miler, I’ll know next Monday how I did!
-hanging out at the Farmer’s Market-
Walked there with Ella this morning and enjoyed some music amidst the smell of fresh breakfasts being cooked and just picked produce!
[gotta get those checks on checks on checks]
Blaaaah, not the best part of the day for sure…but my boss was in desperate need of someone to cover a shift so I agreed. And hey, its money! I just wish it wasn’t so BEAUTIFUL out today! It makes being inside so much harder.
[for my honors religion class]
As I mentioned before, I already have a TON of reading….but at least work gave me the opportunity to knock some of it off! Half glass full, people!
-realizing that it’s September-
Yes I know its cliché and everyone and their mother has already commented on how fast the year has gone….but I’m going to as well! September has always felt like the start of the year for me because of school and the official end of Summer. So I am definitely a little down when ever September comes back around. But there is a lot to look forward to this fall…my 18th birthday, Expo East, my sister visiting in October, SQUASH and APPLE season! So I am staying focused on those things!
And last but not least….
-hanging out with these two goobers-
That would be my mom and my aunt who’s in town for a few days! She’s my moms sister and I am really close with her so it is great having her in town! We’ll definitely be having some fun tonight!
Hope your day was spent doing something you love! If you haven’t entered my Bob’s Red Mill giveaway yet…get on it!!! It ends tomorrow!
Today’s Healthy Help: As I mentioned above, I covered for my boss who was short-staffed at work today! Win win for both of us though since I am a broke college student! 🙂
