I don’t even think I remember what inspired me to first put softserve on my overnight oats…but I have been eating it that way for about two years now and it is still absolutely DELICIOUS every time.
A few of you were wondering exactly what my OVO with softserve was, so let me introduce you to all its amazingness:
I made a little video for you all to show you how I make the base for my Overnight Oats! I planned on making a second video to show how I make my banana/fruit softserve, but I haven’t had the time to get it done. So I will just explain below the video!
Okay so moving on from that corniness……
Banana and fruit softserve is literally the best topper for Overnight Oats ever! The thick coldness of the softserve combined with the creaminess of the yogurty oats is just amazing! And the million toppings I put on really add to the the great texture/flavor combo.
I make my softserve using one whole frozen banana and then whatever other frozen fruit I have on hand.
First I slice the banana, throw it in my food processor with the other frozen fruit, and blend away! You can either let it get really smooth or you can stop it like I do when it become little frozen pellets. It’s like dip-n-dots!!!
My favorite softserve flavors to make are:
strawberry banana (frozen banana, frozen strawberries, cinnamon)
chocolate covered strawberry (frozen banana, frozen strawberries, 1 tbsp carob/cocoa powder)
cherry banana (frozen banana, frozen cherries)
blueberry banana (frozen banana, frozen blueberries)
Once my OVO’s are topped with the softserve, I load up on TONS of crunchy toppings.
Here are my staples:
not sweet vanilla galaxy granola
raisins or dried figs for chew
brown rice crisps
freeze dried apple
rice or kamut puffs
homemade granola if I have it on hand
But really whatever you’re feeling on that particular day would be amazing. You cannot go wrong with this breakfast.
So, have you ever had OVO’s with softserve?
What are your favorite toppings for oats?
YOU MUST TRY THESE. And if you do…let me know!!!
