I had a HORRIBLE dream last night! One of those ones where it is so vivid that it feels real. I even woke up this morning thinking it had actually happened…and I just couldn’t shake the feeling it was giving me.
I had planned on going for a run today already, but after waking up anxious and just feeling…off, I knew I wanted to go right away! So I set out. No mapping or planning. Just me and my sneaks (and my Ipod ).
And guess what!?!
[yes, that is what I look like while running]
Longest and farthest baby!
The run definitely helped clear my mind. It was GORGEOUS out…..and my gorgeous I mean above 30 degrees.
But I gotta admit, the dream has still kind of stuck with me! So frustrating!
Anyways, today is all about running! Since I PDR’ed, I thought it would be an awesome time to discuss running with all of you! I got some great questions on Formspring regarding my running:
What do you eat before running? like a regular breakfast if you were to run in the morning?
The running guru’s of the world would probably spit on me because of this but….I don’t really change my eating at all for running! I have a typical breakfast before hand (or whatever the closest meal before I run is). I typically don’t run in the mornings because of school so my most recent meal to my run is usually my snack after school. Most people would run before eating a snack but I literally cannot run on an empty stomach. Even if I feel a little bit of hunger, my whole run is ruined. So I’d rather chance the cramps then be running on E.
Do you wear a watch to track your time while running?
I WISH!! I want a Garmin SO bad! I’ll get one eventually, but for now I just use the iPod in the sports bra trick. I use the timer on my iPod to get my times and use the outer speaker to play music out loud so I don’t have to wear earphones.
Do you make sure you eat enough calories back, since you burn so many doing those long runs of yours?
Uuuuuh YEAH! How do you think I am able to DO those long runs!?! If I wasn’t adequately fueling there is no way I would be able to run that long or that far! Plus running makes me HUNGRY and I love eating after runs because I feel like all the foods I’m eating are going directly to repairing and replenishing my muscles!
Do you ever fuel during longer runs, like over an hour or so?
No I don’t actually. I always make sure I eat before and after my runs but eating during a run makes me feel nauseous. My body just does not respond well to food while its in motion. Even running by restaurants and smelling food makes me feel sick! I am sure if I ever did a marathon though I would learn to get used to fueling during long runs!
What type of things do you wear for colder runs? Do you wear running tights, leggings, yoga-type pants? I need some ideas 🙂 thanks!
Depending on the temps I usually where spandex capris or sweatpants. But leggings work well too! On top I usually where a sports bra, tank, light shorts sleeve/short sleeve under armor, and then a loose long sleeve shirt on top! Gloves, headbands, and scarves happen sometimes too!
Thanks for all the questions everyone! If you have one of your own feel free to ask away!
Have you ever had a dream that you thought was real when you woke up in the morning?
What’s your PDR?
Are you going Trick or Treating tomorrow?
I will post pics of my costume tomorrow!!!
