Ni hao everyone! Our flight from Xian to Beijing was delayed 4 hours (we sat on the runway for 2 of them), but I am in here now at the campus of the Bo Ai International School. The surroundings are not ideal, per say, but the sightseeing excursions we have been taking have completely made up for it!
Here are some pics from the recent sites we have visited:
The Great Wall (visited right before we left for Xian)
Terra Cotta Warriors:
A little background info-The terra cotta warriors were built during the reign of the first emperor of China (emperor Qin Shi Huang) to protect his tomb and his soul in the after life. They were uncovered in the 7o’s by a farmer who was digging a hole for a well. All of the warriors are covered with pure bronze metal and each warrior is unique ( no two are the same- hair, face, dress, etc.). Overall more than 20 separate “pits” of warriors have been found. We visited the 3 largest pits.
I am trying to catch up on some blog reading right now while I still have internet! I miss the little luxuries of home. But this is truly an eye opening experience and I am happy to be going through it. I know it will change me as a person forever.
Ps. The food here is pretty good incase any of you are wondering. When I get back I will do a more indepth post about the meals I ate. All I know it that I never will want to eat stir fry again after this trip. LOL. Everythign is stir fried here. I miss my grill!!! I already have a list going of the food I am craving and must get as soon as I get back home. 🙂
