Two quintessential summer fruits combine to make the ultimate fruity granola! You can have summer forever with the sweet flavor of this healthy, no added sugar granola. Enjoy with some non-dairy milk, a top some greek yogurt, or straight off the baking sheet!
Nope. No. Not giving in.
I refuse to admit that summer is over. I’m not ready for cool weather. I’m not ready for Halloween decorations. I’m not ready for sweaters. I’m not ready for having to eat dinner inside. I’m not ready for darkness at 6 o’clock. Heck, I’m not even ready for pumpkin! (Okay…that’s a lie. Pumpkin season never ends for me! 😉 )
But alas, it’s mid-September. Last weekend was the ‘unofficial’ end of summer and the ‘official’ changing of the seasons will take place in a little over a week. It’s time I accept the time of year and start embracing it for all the good things it brings!
Before I go all in with the numerous festive fall recipes I have to share with you, I thought we could bid farewell to summer with one final send off. A recipe that screams summer in name and in ingredients!
Strawberry Kiwi Granola! Two of my favorite summer fruits combined into one crunchy, delicious snack.
Earlier this summer in one of my fabulous packages from Frieda’s I received some golden kiwis! These were totally new to me and I was so excited to try them. A little known fact about me is that I eat the WHOLE kiwi….skin and all. So what was interesting about these is that they don’t have furry skin like regular green kiwis. I loved how incredibly sweet they are!
As much as I wanted to eat them all on their own, I knew they’d be perfect in a recipe. Luckily, I had just run out of my No Sugar Added Apple Cinnamon Granola and I was itching to create a new batch. I had some strawberries on hand and a strawberry-kiwi combo sounded PERFECT.
Strawberry Kiwi Granola
Ingredients (4 half cup servings)
- 1 cup old-fashioned oats
- 2 tbsp raw buckwheat groats
- 2 tbsp grape nuts
- 1/2 puffed kamut or rice cereal
- 1 tbsp coconut flour
- 1/4 cup sliced almonds
- 1/4 tsp cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp vanilla powder
- 1/4 tsp ginger powder
- 3 frozen strawberries, thawed and chopped
- 1 small kiwi, peeled and chopped
Instructions
Preheat oven to 325. Mix all dry ingredients (except dried fruit) together in a bowl. In food processor, blend strawberries and kiwi into a thick liquid. Pour fruit mixture over dry ingredients and mix until evenly combined. Spread in a thin layer on a parchment paper lined baking sheet and bake for 20 minutes, stirring half way through. Remove from oven. Let cool and add dried fruit if desired. Store in an air tight container.
It’s definitely important to let this granola cool before digging in! It crisps up a lot when you give it a few minutes of rest on the baking sheet after removing it from the oven. But I’ll be honest, it was hard not to eat the whole batch straight out of the oven. The smell was INCREDIBLE! Another plus, this recipe is totally vegan, gluten-free, fruit-sweetened, and oil-free! It’s perfect for anyone and everyone.
My only regret is not having some macadamia nuts and shredded coconut to add in! I feel like those would have paired so well with the strawberry-kiwi flavor. If anyone has those on hand when you make this definitely add them in and let me know how it turns out! There are so many possibilities.
And with this recipe, I say “so long sweet summer!“…you will be missed!

How amazing is this?! It sounds absolutely delicious and I had no idea there were golden kiwi! I can’t wait to try those out! Did you use those in your recipe or did you use regular green ones?
Healthy Helper says
Thank you so much Marie! I used golden kiwi because that’s what I had on hand! But regular kiwi would work fine! 🙂

Going down fighting, that’s how I’m dealing with the end of summer too 😉 haha These flavors definitely represent summer to me. And deliciousness, they represent that too! Just using fruit puree as the sweetener/sticky-ifier is awesome <3
Healthy Helper says
Haha! I am glad I’m not alone in my denial that summer is ending! 🙂
Darby says
This sounds amazing! My husband is allergic to kiwi but I think I might have to make this and try it out for myself!

Oh man! I would hate having that allergy! But you should definitely try it for yourself! I think you’ll love it. 🙂

I had no idea there were golden kiwis!
I love granola + have been looking for some healthy snacks to take to the zombie job with me. I found a delicious granola at Costco last week, but once I finish it I will have to try to make my own…Now to find those golden kiwis!
Healthy Helper says
You can totally use regular kiwis if you can’t find them!
Sarah says
I have to admit I wasn’t sure when I read kiwi but I think I need to try this. While on vacation we came across a store with so many dried fruits, nuts, seeds, ect and we got dried kiwi and dried cantaloupe because I had never had them or seen them before and well I think there was a reason, neither of them were good but we did get some other goodies.
Healthy Helper says
Hmmmm I have never had dried kiwi! But judging by how much I like regular kiwi I’m sure I’d love it!!
Jill says
That looks delicious Kaila! We get golden kiwis here too and love them! – but we peel the skin off first. 🙂
Thanks so much for linking to A Round Tuit. Hope you have a wonderful week!

I’m kind of ready for fall, but only because summer has to end (according to nature, haha). If it could be summer year-round, I’d be a-okay with it! Fall is fun, though! It’s probably my second favorite season (Spring tends to be… slushy in Pittsburgh)! Anyways! This granola sounds great! I really like the creative flavor combo. I would have never thought about kiwi and strawberry for granola, but I like it!
Healthy Helper says
Thanks Allie! Let me know if you try it!

Buckwheat groats. Puffed rice. I love the interesting ingredients in this list – not just your average oat-based granola. I’m pinning this recipe as it could be just what I need as we head into autumn – it’s not just those long dark nights, I seriously had to check my morning alarm wasn’t set wrong this today as it was so dark
